In our societies, widows are frequently abandoned.

A husband and wife are like two bicycle tyres. If one is lost, the situation will change. In this difficult situation, the husband can survive. In contrast, a wife cannot afford to be separated from her partner. There are currently over 258 million widows worldwide. And society rejects, ignores, and shuns widows. This puts additional pressure on them to live dignified lives.

A widow lady's life becomes more difficult if she does not marry and have children. She is also forced to work due to financial constraints in order to feed her children. Aside from these, the role of society adds to the number of challenges she faces. Widows face a culture of rejection throughout the world, particularly in Asia. Even in some places, a widow's outside visit becomes significantly more difficult.

What factors contribute to widow abandonment?

If someone genuinely wants to assist them but their role in society prevents them from doing so. As a result, they refrain from assisting widows. Some people want to profit from a widow's plight. Some online dating sites see a lot of traffic from widows. This reflects societal mentality. Despite their efforts, they want to exploit the widow's situation. This is the right thing to do if the goal is to marry or support someone. However, if motivation is lacking, this is a bad choice in general.

We must care for the widow and accept her as a person. Create a welcoming work environment for her so she can support her children and herself while remaining respectful. As a society, it is our responsibility to recognize and respect widows so that they can live with the dignity and rights that they deserve.
